Malaga Video Camera Surveillance

MEDIA RELEASE: Law breakers beware – the Malaga video surveillance program is now complete. Malaga Crime Management Forum chairman and City of Swan deputy mayor Mel Congerton said the Federal Government Grant for the supply and installation of video surveillance security cameras has now been totally implemented.

“Smart video surveillance cameras have been installed in hot spots throughout Malaga and operate 24 hours 7 days a week monitoring business, vehicle and pedestrian movement.

“Smart cameras capture video and still images in full colour, day or night, operate rain or shine and automatically track movement from up to 300 metres away from points of interest.’’

Mr Congerton said that allowed for the Smart camera to zoom in and out on any approaching object or object leaving an area within the smart zone.

Ballajura police officer in charge senior sergeant Ian North believed the cameras would be invaluable in the detection of offenders.

“Information recorded is date and time stamped so it can be used by the police to assist in a prosecution,’’ he said.

The Malaga Crime Management Forum (MCMF) was established in 2005 in partnership with the Malaga Business and District Association, Ballajura Police and the City of Swan.

MCMF is a Federal and State funded committee and the aim of the Forum is to promote anti-crime awareness initiatives in Malaga to help reduce burglary, unlawful damage, graffiti, vehicle theft and individual harm.
