Ballajura Police ran a very successful night shift operation recently incorporating the Police Dog Squad, mounted section and were supported by neighbouring stations of Kiara and Ellenbrook.

The operation, which ran from Monday 1st to Sunday 7th September, was designed to reduce the level of offending in and around the Malaga Commercial Estate.

Utilising both marked and unmarked vehicles, Ballajura Police were successful in apprehending 27 people on a total of 42 charges including 3 for driving in excess of the legal limit, 2 for Reckless driving under the new hoon legislation and 5 on a variety of drug related charges. The most pleasing result was the apprehension of a person for Burglary and a number of Stealing offences. Patrolling police also averted possibly numerous offences when they located a vehicle at 3am on Sunday morning with two known prolific offenders inside.

Current results have seen a dramatic down turn in the level of offending in Malaga. Ballajura Officer in Charge, Senior Sergeant Ian North said he was very happy with the results of the operation however business owners could assist police by ensuring their premises are well secured at the end of the business day I'm encouraged by these results and look forward to maintaining them at this level as much as we can he said.
