Broadband Blackspot Audit in Perth’s Eastern Region

During February 2008 businesses and residents of Perth’s Eastern Region will be invited to participate in a survey which will assist in the identification of remaining Broadband Blackspots.

The absence of high speed broadband is holding back growth of existing businesses and is a problem in attracting new business to Perth’s Eastern Region.

The survey will be coordinated by the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC) on behalf of member Councils – Town of Bassendean, City of Bayswater, City of Belmont, Shire of Kalamunda, Shire of Mundaring and the City of Swan.

Businesses and residents will be invited to complete a simple survey to register their home or business as a Broadband Blackspot. This survey will be available online at www.emrc.org.au or in hard copy through Council offices and libraries.

It is intended that the information collected will assist the EMRC and Councils to identify serviceable Broadband Blackspot areas and facilitate required infrastructure upgrades by service providers, where possible.
